Governments are currently negotiating the post-2015 sustainable development agenda as the time limit of millennium development goals (MDGs) ends this year. A panel of experts in this webinar will help us understand what should the post-2015 sustainable development framework mean for lung health related issues? Burden of lung diseases, disabilities, and mortality is alarmingly high, yet they have been neglected for far too long. For instance, tuberculosis, tobacco-related lung diseases, asthma, pneumonia (particularly childhood pneumonia), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and other respiratory diseases, need much more action on the ground than ever before!
Also, it is important to recognise the strong interconnections and linkages of these specific lung health issues with other development issues (as well as at times with each other). For example, how does climate change influence asthma, or how does poverty correlate with TB, or indoor air pollution affects childhood pnumonia (biggest killer of children under 5).
This webinar will provide you an opportunity to have a direct interface with lead lung health experts from the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), TB Alliance (Global Alliance for TB Drug Development) and ask questions from them!
