This Podcast features conversation with Lorenz Gosta Beutin, Member of Parliament (MP) Die Linke, Germany. Lorenz spoke with CNS Managing Editor Shobha Shukla at the 1st International Solidarity Conference on the Rights of Climate Migrants in Manila, Philippines. Germany is 4th largest polluter of CO2 in the world and has a duty to respond to climate change as well as for care for people who are forced to opt for climate induced migration.When asylum seekers can come to Germany for political reasons then why cannot those migrants come to Germany for economic reasons?
"My duty as a parliamentarian is to bring this fight for climate justice into the heart of the beast... capitalist centre... Germany. Germany is world's greatest importer... it brings weapons all over the world. In every conflict there is a German weapon. If you have a conflict with arms always be sure there are German weapons in it" shares Lorenz.
We need MPs like Lorenz to take centre-stage in making this world a better place for everyone!
