SHE & Rights 2nd session: Reality check on promises for gender equality and human rights

Our governments have promised to deliver on gender equality and human rights by endorsing a range of declarations, agreements and other commitments, including legally binding treaty CEDAW, 1994 ICPD and its platform of action, 1994 Beijing Declaration and its platform for action, UN Sustainable Development Goals, among others.

The year 2025 will mark 30 years since Beijing Declaration and its Platform for Action was adopted. Beijing+30 intergovernmental review processes are soon going to be held in African region (30 October to 2 November 2024 | Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | reports submitted by African nations) as well as Asia Pacific region (19-21 November 2024 | Bangkok, Thailand | reports submitted by Asia Pacific nations) which will be preceded by a CSO Forum).

Are we on track on the promises enshrined in these commitments?
