Beyond Stigma partners with Elizabeth Gilbert’s Letters from Love

In a world yearning for compassion and healing, Beyond Stigma had the incredible privilege of joining Letters from Love, an inspiring initiative by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love. This global project creates space for heartfelt letters and stories that celebrate courage, healing, and love — values deeply aligned with our mission at Beyond Stigma.

When Elizabeth invited me to participate, I accompanied our passionate Project Officer, Vimbainashe “Vimbai” Jazi, and answered the call with open hearts. Reflecting on our own experiences, together, we brought the spirit of love and resilience that drives everything we do.

I have dedicated my career to advocating for marginalised communities worldwide. In Letters from Love, I shared a deeply personal letter and gifted the Letters from Love community with THERE IS A TREASURE IN ME — a powerful collection of poetry written by young people living with HIV in Zimbabwe. Each poem reflects resilience, courage, and the transformative power of love, resonating with the initiative’s mission.

Vimbai Jazi, a dynamic advocate and Project Officer at Beyond Stigma, shared her lived experience with HIV and internal stigma through her own letter. Her voice, rooted in resilience, brought a raw and honest perspective that touched everyone in the Letters from Love community.

Letters From Love - A Reader Comment

Together, we posed a critical question to the Letters from Love community as a takeaway note:

How does self-stigma show up in our lives, and what does Unconditional Love have to say about it?

Elizabeth captured it perfectly when she said that our work brings the spirit of love and compassion to the world. For Beyond Stigma, this experience was a reminder of the power of storytelling; how it connects us, heals us, and reminds us that we are not alone.

This partnership aligns with Beyond Stigma’s broader vision for 2025 and beyond; to create global spaces where individuals can confront stigma and rediscover their worth.

We’re so grateful to have been part of this project and remain committed to amplifying stories of love, resilience, and transformation. Thank you, Elizabeth, for creating this space and allowing us to contribute!
